Badminton clinics and excursions for schools

Badminton Australia has successfully conducted badminton clinics for primary and high school students in the lead-up to the 2015 Australian Badminton Open. The Australian Community Badminton Association also helped out through generously sponsoring the clinics with 50 racquets.

Due to popular demand, multiple badminton clinics were delivered to over 200 children from Strathfield High School as well as Strathfield North Public School. The hour-long sessions introduced the children to basic badminton skills using Badminton World Federation's (BWF) Shuttle Time program. The sessions were filled with plenty of fun and the same time the students as well as PE teachers found themselves physically and technically challenged with acquiring new sports skills. Some groups were further confronted with strong winds when the clinics took place at the school's Covered Outdoor Learning Area but they handled the challenges enthusiastically, proving that badminton is a sport enjoyed by anyone, anywhere.

The schools are now looking forward to excursions to watch the world's top athletes in this fastest of racquet sports compete at the Australian Badminton Open Superseries tournament come 26-31 May at Sydney Olympic Park.
